Joyce, one of the children sponsored through ANLM in Kigali, was involved in a bad accident yesterday. On her way home from school, she was struck by a fast-moving motorbike. Both of her legs were broken. Joyce was taken to Kanombe Military Hospital where she was given surgery. Her condition is currently stable. Please pray for Joyce and her family as she begins recovery.

The water storage tank has been installed and water is being pumped to fill it. Next, distribution lines will be placed to carry water to the orphan homes and the school. So apparently Rwandans like buffets. After performing at Clarkston High School one morning, the guys were asked where they wanted to eat. “Whatever” was the reply. And then…”Oh! Do you have buffet?”

And its Lewiston, so while it may not have Target or a real library, it does have a mighty fine buffet.

We explained to Enric that buffets are not cool. That they’re for old people…that if he wants to be a famous rapper, he can’t be going around eating at buffets. But if it’s up to him, things won’t stay that way — “I will change history” he said. So he’s going to write a rap song about buffets and how great they are and then do a music video and then buffets will become cool. They will be the restaurant for old people AND rappers.

And the look on people’s faces when they walked into the restaurant and enthusiastically loaded up their plates as if it were the most natural thing in the world for five very black, very cool Rwandan guys to be eating at a buffet in rural Idaho, surrounded by a bunch of old white people? The scene was, in the words of MasterCard, priceless.

During the visit, the manager came over to meet the group and offered a discount for them to eat there, anytime during their stay. And so naturally, they took them up on the offer, and went in for Round Two for lunch the next day.

And the most wonderful thing happened. The Red Hat Society was meeting at that very place, at that very time. So they sat next to them, a picture of the future Enric hopes to create, where black rappers and old ladies eat in buffet bliss.

It was also decided that Enric should become the new face of Old Country Buffet. I mean, you hear “Subway” and you picture Jared….why not “Old Country Buffet” and “Enric”? So we will soon be submitting a contract proprosal to the corporation…
